Oliver Thomas is 1 Year Old!

*Note: The pictures below are a jumbled mess.  Blogger changed their format, and it is now a serious headache to move things around.  Sorry they are in no semblance of an order!

Oliver Thomas turned 1 year old this past week! We had a lot of things planned for him throughout the week to celebrate. On his actual birthday, we had a special breakfast for dinner of pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs.  He loved it!  After dinner, we walked down the Monon to Huddles for frozen yogurt.  He was definitely digging it!

A few days after his birthday, we celebrated with family and friends at our house.  We threw a Very Hungry Caterpillar-themed party.  Everything turned out so cute!  I think everyone had a great time, and Oliver loved all the new toys and books he received.  It was also the first time he had really ever had any type of sweet.  He dug into his cake and went to town!  The red frosting on his face looked like clown makeup.  It was too funny!

I really can't believe a whole year has gone by already!  It has flown by so quickly...it's hard to even remember him as a little baby!  Happy birthday, Oliver!

Monthly Stats:
Weight: 23 lbs. 2 oz.
Height: 30.5 inches

In honor of his birthday, we gave him a fork to start using at dinnertime.  He loved it!

For a special birthday dinner, we had pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs.  He ate like he was never going to see food again!

Tooling around the living room...he's so close to walking on his own!

He definitely didn't want to go to bed after his party!  He was having too much fun playing with all his new toys.

I think he liked it!

Oliver is 11 Months Old!

Weight: somewhere in the neighborhood of 23-24 lbs.

Height: somewhere around 30-31 inches

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 18 month clothes, size 6 shoes

Special tricks: Oliver is not yet walking, but he moves around furniture and walks holding onto us really well. I'm sure he will be walking soon enough! Recently, Oliver has begun giving kisses, signing a few words (dog and more) and communicating better through words and actions. He says dada, mama, dog and Hoosier.

Eating: Oliver has 8 teeth now. He is becoming less dependent on milk and moving more toward 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. He will try most foods but doesn't really eat a whole lot of anything. He does really like yogurt, bagels, sweet potatoes, applesauce, fish and pork. He is getting really good at using his sippy cup too.

Sleeping: 7:30 pm - 6:00 am (sometimes 4:45 am...ugh!)

Activities: Oliver is still really into playing with doors. He also likes Legos, books and his walker. We have recently let him play with bubbles and balloons, and he is fascinated by both! Since the weather has been so nice here lately, we have spent a lot of time outside. He loves to go for walks in the stroller and bike rides in the bike trailer.

Oliver is 10 Months Old!

Weight: somewhere in the neighborhood of 23 lbs.

Height: somewhere around 30 inches

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 12-18 month clothes, size 6 shoes

Special tricks: Oliver crawls everywhere and pulls himself up on everything. He also waves at everything now and can climb up steps. He is definitely into exploring his world!

Eating: Oliver now has 7 teeth, with a few more to come soon. He has actually started chewing food, although he still prefers to be spoon-fed baby food. He will try most foods, but doesn't have much of an interest in them yet. We've just started giving him very small amounts of whole milk and will soon be transitioning from a bottle to a sippy cup...so many changes!

Sleeping: 8:00 pm - 6:00 am

Activities: Oliver's favorite activity recently has been playing with doors. He loves to open and close them...he thinks they're fascinating! He also likes his walker and, of course, anything he shouldn't have (i.e. the toilet, Hoosier's food, etc.).

Oliver is 9 Months Old!

Weight: 22 lbs. 2 oz. (guess we were way off last month...oops!)

Height: 29 1/2 inches

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 12-18 month clothes, size 4 shoes

Special tricks: Oliver is crawling EVERYWHERE and is pulling himself up on EVERYTHING! We basically just chase him around and tell him no these days...lol! It is so much fun watching him explore his world, but man oh man, is it exhausting!

Eating: He now has 5 teeth (with a few more in the works) and is eating all kinds of food. We pretty much just give him small pieces of whatever we're having for dinner. He had spaghetti the other night and really seemed to like it! He goes back and forth on whether or not he's interested in baby food. These days he's really into toast (or any kind of bread, for that matter!).

Sleeping: 8:00 pm - 6:00 am

Activities: He still loves all his toys, but these days he really just wants to crawl around and explore things. His favorite things are, of course, the things he's not supposed to have!

Although this stage is exhausting, I am loving watching him get so big and mobile. He seems like such a big boy to me all of a sudden! He brings so much joy into our lives on a daily basis!

Oliver is 8 Months Old!

Weight: somewhere in the neighborhood of 24 lbs.

Height: 29 1/2 inches

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 12-18 month clothes, size 4 shoes

Special tricks: Oliver still only crawls backwards. He has crawled forward but then usually flops onto the floor like it was the hardest thing he's ever done! Lately, he has begun fake coughing all the time and likes to shriek, just for the heck of it. He is a constant ball of motion and noise!

Eating: Dude still loves to eat! He is now feeding himself puffs and other little finger foods and has mastered the sippy cup. He also recently started eating yogurt which he loves!

Sleeping: 8:00 pm - 6:00 am and longer on the weekends!

Activities: He is getting very into toys lately...probably because he just got 27 new toys for Christmas...ha! He loves to manipulate things, watch his toys that light up and rock 'n roll to the music they play. He is getting really good at standing to play with his new activity table.

Oliver is 7 Months Old!

Weight: 21 lbs. 5 oz.

Height: 29 inches

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 9-12 month clothes

Special tricks: Oliver is rolling all over the place and trying so hard to crawl. He gets up on his knees and rocks back and forth, but so far, he can only go backwards! He also started clapping not too long ago, and we're working on waving :)

Eating: He eats 3 good meals of solids a day. We recently introduced proteins (beef and chicken), and he's still not sure what to think of those. We also started giving him a sippy cup and puffs. He does great with the sippy cup, but the puffs end up stuck to his face or on the floor for Hoosier to eat!

Sleeping: 8:00 pm - 6:00 am and longer on the weekends!

Activities: Oliver likes to hang out on the floor, playing with toys. He also likes to watch baby sign language videos or anything else with lots of music. Of course, rocking himself back and forth is still his pastime of choice!

Oliver is 6 Months Old!

Weight: 20 lbs. 3 oz. (91st percentile)

Height: 28 1/2 inches (99th percentile)

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 9-12 month clothes

Special tricks: Oliver is talking so much lately, and he is now stringing sounds together (da-da-da and ga-ga-ga). He still constantly rocks back and forth, and his legs and hands are always moving. He also recently got this first two teeth (bottom front) and began sitting up on his own!

Eating: Every 4 hours; he continues to eat fruits and veggies also. Right now, he is going through a phase where he prefers his vegetables to be mixed with fruit. Overall, he is not picky at all, though! We will soon be trying out meats and a few new fruits and veggies.

Sleeping: 8:00 pm - 6:00 am and longer on the weekends!

Activities: Oliver still enjoys his exersaucer and Johnny Jumper. He also likes reading books and playing with his stuffed animals that light up and play music.

Oliver is 5 Months Old!

Weight: 20 lbs.

Height: 27 1/2 inches

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 9 month clothes

Special tricks: Oliver can now roll from his back to his belly and from his belly to his back. He is mimicking us more and more these days and loves to crack himself up making noises with his hands in his mouth...such a boy!

Eating: Every 4 hours; he is also now eating fruits and veggies several times a day. So far, he has had bananas, applesauce, pears (his favorite!), avocado, squash, sweet potatoes and carrots. He has yet to meet a food he doesn't like!

Sleeping: He eats at 8:00 pm, goes to sleep right after that and sleeps until I wake him up at 6:00 am to eat again. On the weekends, he will usually go back to sleep again until 8:00 or 9:00 am. Mama and Daddy like that!

Activities: Oliver still loves his exersaucer. He also just got a Johnny Jumper and loves to bounce in it!

Oliver is just the happiest, sweetest baby. His Mama and Daddy just love him to pieces.

Oliver is 4 Months Old!

Weight: 18 lbs. 3 oz.

Height: 26 1/2 inches

What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 6-9 month clothes

Special tricks: Oliver can now roll over! He started doing it a couple of weeks ago, but he isn't rolling all over the place yet. He also now mimics us when we make noises. One noise, in particular, he can do perfectly. He still loves his hands...they are constantly in his mouth, along with anything else he can get his paws on!

Eating: Every 4 hours; he is also now eating rice cereal or oatmeal twice a day.

Sleeping: He eats at 8:00 pm, goes to sleep right after that and sleeps until I wake him up at 6:00 am to eat again.

Activities: We recently put Oliver in his exersaucer, and he is in love! We have to put blankets around him since he's still a bit unsteady, but he goes nuts! He is quite the mover and shaker these days. Our pediatrician said his gross motor skills are far above average and predicted he will be walking by 9 months...yikes!

Oliver is 3 Months Old!

Weight: 16 lbs. 15 oz.
Height: 26 1/2 inches
What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, mostly 6 month clothes, some 9 month clothes
Special tricks: Oliver is smiling and laughing all the time! I love it! He is also babbling a lot and is really interested in his hands. They are constantly in his mouth or he is staring intently at them. He now reaches out and grabs things and can hold on tightly to a toy. Unfortunately, he usually shakes it all around and ends up hitting himself in the head. Last week, he began trying to roll over. He can make it onto his side but hasn't quite mastered the whole thing yet.
Eating: Every 4 hours
Sleeping: He goes to bed about 8:00 p.m. each night. I wake him up to eat around 9:30 p.m. (I'm slowly pushing it back) and then he falls back asleep until 6:00 a.m. After I feed him, he goes back to sleep again until around 8:30-9:30 a.m. Now that he has started at the sitter, though, that may change soon!
Activities: Oliver is still loving his activity gyms. He now plays with the toys more. He is not loving tummy time so much anymore...usually he starts yelling until we turn him back over. He still really likes to look at the silly faces we make. He has even started really watching Hoosier lately. We have started reading more books lately, and he seems to really enjoy them. I have noticed that he is not a big fan of music, however (or maybe it's just that my voice doesn't qualify as actual music, in his opinion!).

I started back to work this week so Oliver is now going to the babysitter each day. It will be interesting to watch as he gets the opportunity to interact with other babies on a daily basis.

Oliver is 2 Months Old!

Oliver turned 2 months old a few days ago! Here's what he is up to...

Weight: 15 lbs. 1 oz.
Height: 25 1/2 inches
What he's wearing: Size 2 diaper, 6 month clothes
Special tricks: Oliver smiles all the time and has begun laughing in the past couple of days...melts my heart! He loves to chew on his hands and drool all over the place. He no longer wants to lay down...he has amazing neck control so he now prefers to sit up (with a little help, of course!). He is also quite squirmy...he loves to kick his legs!
Eating: Every 3 1/2 hours
Sleeping: Goes to bed around 8-8:30, eats at 10:00 (I wake him up) and sleeps until 5:00 a.m. or so. He will go right back to sleep until 8:00 a.m. then. He still doesn't really nap much during the day unless we're in the car a lot.
Activities: Oliver still loves to hang out with the other babies at our mom's group. He also really enjoys tummy time and batting at toys above his head. I think his favorite activity right now, though, is watching our faces and listening to us make silly noises.

Oliver is such a fun and happy baby! His daddy and I are having so much fun watching him grow and do new things every day!

Oliver is 1 Month Old!

Oliver Thomas is 1 month old today! I cannot believe how fast time has flown already...yikes! Here is what Oliver is up to these days...

Weight: 11 lbs. 14 oz.
Height: 23 inches
What he's wearing: Size 1 (almost 2) diaper, 3-6 month clothes (I had to pack up most of his 0-3 month clothes by the time he was 2 weeks old)
Special tricks: Oliver has started smiling in the past couple of days...melts my heart! He has also found his hands and is starting to find his voice by cooing and making other little noises. He has been trying really hard to suck on his fingers and/or thumb but hasn't quite mastered it yet.
Eating: Every 3 hours
Sleeping: Goes to bed after his 8 pm feeding and wakes up every 3 hours to eat. He's very punctual...you could set a watch by him. After he eats, he goes right back to sleep. He wakes up around 8 or so every morning.
Activities: Oliver likes tummy time, looking at books and listening to his mama sing. He also likes hanging out with the other babies at the moms group and story hour we go to each week.

Oliver is such a sweet and easy baby. He has brought his daddy and me so much joy in the past month! We can't wait to see his personality begin to emerge in the coming months.
