An Adorable Etsy Find

I found this adorable blanket from Petunias on Etsy, back when Oliver was still known as Baby K 'round these parts. I bookmarked the site and finally got around to having the blanket made. It is chocolate brown satin on one side, green fluffy on the other and lists all his birth stats. I absolutely love how it turned out!

Oliver is 3 Months Old!

Weight: 16 lbs. 15 oz.
Height: 26 1/2 inches
What he's wearing: Size 3 diaper, mostly 6 month clothes, some 9 month clothes
Special tricks: Oliver is smiling and laughing all the time! I love it! He is also babbling a lot and is really interested in his hands. They are constantly in his mouth or he is staring intently at them. He now reaches out and grabs things and can hold on tightly to a toy. Unfortunately, he usually shakes it all around and ends up hitting himself in the head. Last week, he began trying to roll over. He can make it onto his side but hasn't quite mastered the whole thing yet.
Eating: Every 4 hours
Sleeping: He goes to bed about 8:00 p.m. each night. I wake him up to eat around 9:30 p.m. (I'm slowly pushing it back) and then he falls back asleep until 6:00 a.m. After I feed him, he goes back to sleep again until around 8:30-9:30 a.m. Now that he has started at the sitter, though, that may change soon!
Activities: Oliver is still loving his activity gyms. He now plays with the toys more. He is not loving tummy time so much anymore...usually he starts yelling until we turn him back over. He still really likes to look at the silly faces we make. He has even started really watching Hoosier lately. We have started reading more books lately, and he seems to really enjoy them. I have noticed that he is not a big fan of music, however (or maybe it's just that my voice doesn't qualify as actual music, in his opinion!).

I started back to work this week so Oliver is now going to the babysitter each day. It will be interesting to watch as he gets the opportunity to interact with other babies on a daily basis.

A Letter

Dear Oliver,
Today was your first day with Maria, your babysitter. It was also, quite possibly, the hardest day your Mama has ever endured. You haven't been feeling too great so I felt terrible dropping you off, but I had to go back to work today. You cried when I handed you over to Maria, and I cried all the way to school...and then quite a bit more as I sat in my office, trying to get something accomplished.

Halfway through the day, I just had to know how you were doing so I texted Maria. You, of course, were doing just fine. You happened to be eating at the time...your favorite thing to do!

Your daddy picked you up after work and guess what...you survived! I, of course, was a whole different story. I cried for quite awhile after I got home too. All I could think of was how much I wanted to be home with you, all day, everyday.

Since I didn't have much time to spend with you before you had to go to bed, I decided I was going to make the most of it. After you got done pooping on me (welcome home, mom!), we read books and rocked and rocked and rocked. Eventually, you fell asleep on my shoulder so I begrudgingly put you to bed. As I write this, you are fast asleep, and I am listening to your lullaby music. This has been my most favorite night with you so far.

Tomorrow, we will get up and do it all over again. Hopefully, as the days go by, it will get easier and easier for both of us (ok, mostly me). You, however, are going to love Maria and have such a blast with the other kids there. Just know that, at the end of the day, your daddy and I will be back to take you home to play with you and snuggle and love on you. You are my whole world, and I love you more than you will ever know.

Hugs and kisses,
Your Mama

Mama's Little Fishy

Today, Oliver made his first trip to the pool. We met a friend of mine and her kiddos at the Monon Center.

He's ready to swim! We sat in the water in the toddler area, and he was as happy as a clam. I also took him into the regular pool. He loved floating on his back!

I'm already planning our next trip to the pool, and next time, Daddy will get to come too!
